Project Overview

Designing Greenpeace Africa’s 2025 Annual Report

The Ethical Agency designed the Greenpeace Africa Annual Report 2025, “Towards a Just Climate Future for Africa”. Across 15 spreads, it gathers a year of campaigns, legal victories and supporter growth into one clear publication for funders, partners and the wider movement. We handled the full annual report design and publication, including layout, data visualisation, infographics, and the editorial system that guides the reader through the year. In addition, we also undertook the translation into French, as well as the layout and design of the French version of the annual report. The brief was to make Greenpeace Africa’s impact legible and shareable, turning programme reporting into a document people can read from cover to cover.

The brief

Greenpeace Africa is a Pan-African environmental organisation campaigning across forest protection in the Congo Basin, ocean and fisheries governance in West Africa, the elimination of single-use plastics, sustainable food systems and climate governance. Its 2025 Annual Report, “Towards a Just Climate Future for Africa”, needed to gather a demanding year of policy influence, community mobilisation, legal wins and supporter growth into one publication that could deeply engage funders, partners and the wider movement, while staying accessible, engaging and unmistakably Greenpeace. TEA led the annual report design end to end. We began with the words, not the page: we provided copyediting to sharpen the content, then mapped all 15 spreads with our Publication Planner tool, sequencing the foreword, executive summary, the eight themes of systemic change and the geographic footprint into a clear reading order before design started.

A brand-aligned design system

An annual report has to feel like the organisation behind it. We built a brand-aligned visual system rooted in Greenpeace Africa’s identity, its colour, energy and campaigning voice, and carried it consistently across every spread. A persistent navigation bar, bold numbered chapter dividers and a clear typographic hierarchy let a reader move from the Board Chairperson’s foreword to campaign detail to the country footprint with ease, and a bespoke handwritten display font, drawn by our lead designer, gave the headings a distinctive, human character. This is the publication design craft that turns a year of reporting into something people want to read.

Diagrams, tables and infographics that carry the impact

Greenpeace Africa’s year is a story told in numbers, and those numbers had to land. We created report-aligned infographics, data tables and “by the numbers” callouts to present the year’s impact clearly: 35.5 million content impressions, more than 288,000 digital actions taken by supporters, and five major legal victories, including a landmark ruling in Kenya that halted GMO imports. Set against documentary photography and pull-quotes from community leaders, this infographic design makes the scale of the movement’s work legible at a glance.

An English and a French edition

Greenpeace Africa works across Anglophone and Francophone Africa, so the report needed to speak to both. Beyond the English edition, TEA undertook the French translation and produced the full layout and design of the French version, so Francophone funders and partners read the same clear, on-brand report as Anglophone audiences. Copyediting and a shared design system kept both editions consistent and accurate.

Built for print and screen

We delivered the report print-ready and as an optimised digital publication, in both English and French, ready to travel on a funder’s desk or to be shared online across the movement. For the previous year’s edition, see our work on the Greenpeace Africa 2024 Annual Report.

First time collaborating with TEA and not last time. Very professional and creative team. I appreciated the rigorous follow-up of our project and the respect of delivery deadlines.
