In 2024, GreenCape appointed The Ethical Agency to refresh the design of their Market Intelligence Reports (MIRs) and develop dynamic web pages to house periodic changes to market-related data.
Project Overview
GreenCape has produced the Market Intelligence Reports for over a decade, with their market intelligence evolving to the rapidly changing green economy landscape. As a result, the organisation has moved towards dynamic MIRs for some sectors, allowing for more frequent updates or regularly changing data to be viewed online. This approach ensures stakeholders have access to the most up-to-date information, supporting informed investment decisions and strategic planning in South Africa’s green economy sectors.
The Ethical Agency redesigned the look and feel of GreenCape’s MIRs in 2024, placing them as 1st Runner-up in the only awards entered into. Award winner: GreenCape’s MIRs placed as 1st Runner-up in the Design Category at the 2024 SA Publication Forum Awards.

GreenCape’s Market Intelligence Reports (MIRs) are comprehensive annual publications providing valuable insights into various green economy sectors in South Africa. These reports are designed for investors and businesses interested in market-related information in key sectors, including renewable energy, energy services, electric vehicles, water, and sustainable agriculture.
In 2024, GreenCape appointed The Ethical Agency to refresh the design of their Market Intelligence Reports (MIRs) and develop dynamic web pages to house periodic changes to market-related data. This shift allows for a printed / PDF report to link to dynamic data so that annual statistical information for MIRs doesn’t become dated.
The result was the design of various reports and interactive website pages that provide an improved user experience with the most up-to-date variable data per MIR category.
Due to frequent data changes, and the need to have the most up-to-date data available, large sections of the annual MIRs needed to be published as web pages so they could be frequently and easily updated with the most recent data. As a long-time partner of GreenCape, and the company responsible for the development of GreenCape’s website, The Ethical Agency was the perfect partner to bring the project to realisation.
In 2024, we worked closely with the GreenCape team to redesign the PDF publications and build dynamic pages on the GreenCape website to house live/current data that can be easily updated by GreenCape.See below for pages from the publications, as well as one of the sector pages:
As MIRs are produced and uploaded annually in different categories, their categories and types also change over time. Therefore, we needed to build a dynamic section that automatically formats new uploads and older content appropriately. In addition, the newer MIRs are part PDF report and part dynamic charts, using data pulled from external sources, whereas previous reports were PDF only. The result is a seamless user experience for new website visitors, with an easy back-end interface for GreenCape staff to upload and update new MIRs.

GreenCape appointed The Ethical Agency in 2024 to refresh the design of their annual Market Intelligence Reports (MIRs) and develop dynamic web pages to house regularly updated market data — making critical green economy insights more accessible and visually compelling.
TEA delivered redesigned publication layouts for multiple MIRs alongside purpose-built web pages with modular structures that allow GreenCape's team to update data-heavy sections without compromising the visual integrity of the reports.
GreenCape's MIRs are flagship knowledge products used by investors, policymakers, and industry stakeholders. The refresh was aimed at elevating their professional presentation and ensuring digital versions were as impactful as the printed equivalents.
TEA combines clear typographic hierarchy, purposeful use of colour, and custom data visualisation to transform complex market data into readable, visually engaging publications that communicate authority and clarity.
Yes. The digital pages were built with updateability in mind — enabling GreenCape's internal team to maintain and refresh data sections periodically without requiring a full redesign cycle.
